Sony FE 28-70mm f/2 GM Dubai | G Master Constant f/2 Zoom Lens [عدسة سوني جي ماستر]

Sony 28-70mm f2 GM Dubai retails at AED 9,899 at CamCity — and if you shoot professionally in this city, you already know why this lens matters. Dubai’s best work happens in challenging light: ballroom receptions in JW Marriott, product launches in DIFC, editorial shoots inside shaded desert camps at dusk. The Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM (SEL2870GM) is Sony’s answer to all of it — the world’s first constant f/2 zoom in the G Master series, and a lens that replaces a bag full of primes with a single, razor-sharp tool.

Key Features of the Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM for UAE Professionals

Sony’s First Constant f/2 GM Zoom

The Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM Dubai sits a full stop brighter than any 24-70mm f/2.8 — and that single stop is transformational. Indoor events in Dubai with no fill flash, Arabic wedding receptions under chandeliers, corporate video in dark conference rooms: at f/2, you collect twice as much light and produce far shallower background separation than any f/2.8 zoom can deliver. The 11-blade circular aperture unit produces the smoothest, most even bokeh [بوكيه] in any Sony G Master zoom to date.

Prime-Quality Sharpness Corner to Corner

Twenty optical elements across 14 groups — including three XA (extreme aspherical) elements manufactured to tolerances tighter than human hair — deliver corner-to-corner sharpness at f/2 across the entire zoom range. This is not the soft-at-the-edges behaviour common to fast zoom lenses. Sony built this to match their highest-performing G Master primes and verified it against sensors of 40MP and above.

Four XD Linear Motors for Silent, Confident Autofocus

Four XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors drive a floating focus group that tracks at burst rates up to 120 fps on compatible bodies. For Dubai’s event photographers shooting bursts of a speaker approaching a podium or a first dance — the Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM locks and holds focus without hesitation. AF operation is near-silent, making it equally suited to video recording in quiet corporate or hospitality environments.

Short-Throw Zoom and Gimbal-Friendly Design

The lens extends only 0.7 inches when zooming from 28mm to 70mm. This minimal breathing is critical for gimbal shooters — a lens that shifts its balance point when zoomed throws a stabiliser off-axis. At 139.8mm long and 918g, this is a substantial lens, but its near-internal zoom design means gimbal recalibration between focal lengths is largely eliminated, making it a realistic choice for professional videographers in UAE.

Who Should Buy the Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM in the UAE

This lens is built for three distinct professional groups operating in Dubai and the broader UAE.

Dubai’s hospitality and event photographers work primarily in mixed, unpredictable light — hotel ballrooms, outdoor Ramadan tents, rooftop venue receptions where natural and artificial light combine unpredictably. The f/2 aperture gives these shooters a decisive advantage over anyone carrying an f/2.8 zoom.

Hybrid shooters producing brand films, documentary content, and social-first video in Dubai need a lens that performs as well in 4K cinematic work as it does for stills. The Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM’s near-silent AF, smooth gimbal behaviour, and exceptional low-light output make it the first zoom that genuinely replaces a prime kit for production work.

Portrait and fashion photographers in the UAE will find the 70mm end of this lens at f/2 produces a background separation that rivals a dedicated 85mm prime — with the practical flexibility of a wide-angle range when shooting in tight studio or location conditions.

Why Buy From CamCity

CamCity is a UAE-authorised Sony dealer operating from Al Khaleej Centre, Dubai. Every Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM sold at CamCity carries a verified Sony Middle East warranty — not a grey market import with a vague seller guarantee. At AED 11,499 for a lens in this class, the warranty is not a footnote: it is the entire buying decision.

Grey market units of the Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM have appeared in UAE at lower prices. What buyers lose: Sony Middle East service coverage, firmware update eligibility, and any recourse if the lens develops a fault. On a lens of this price and complexity — with precision-engineered XA elements and four XD linear AF motors — repair costs without official service access are substantial.

You can hold this lens in our Al Khaleej Centre showroom before committing. No online-only seller in the UAE offers this. Message us on WhatsApp right now and we will confirm stock, current price, and delivery in under five minutes.
